Dear Parents/Guardians,
The goal of Crown Point Elementary School is to assist your child in becoming a lifelong reader. The summer months provide the perfect opportunity to extend and enrich your child's reading experiences.
Please visit the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library’s website at www.cmlibrary.org/programs/summer_reading/2015 or click on the link located at the top of this page to find a list of suggested books for your child's grade level. These books are not required reading, however, the list is to assist you in selecting appropriate reading material for your child to read over the summer months.
The following tips may be helpful for all parents/guardians:
Many of the books on the lists are available at the Matthews Public Library.
In order for students to continue to strengthen their reading skills, we have developed a summer reading log. This log should be completed throughout the summer. Please have your child read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can record the title of the book on the reading log provided and write your initials beside the title. Have your child return the completed summer reading log to their new teacher when returning in August.
Whether on the beach or hanging inside on a rainy day.....don't forget to curl up with a good book!
Have a wonderful and safe summer! See you all in August! If you have any questions, please feel free to email us or contact the school at 980-343-6535.
